Book Updates

Sketching away on my fourth book project!! Set in Haiti and it's so much fun to draw the scenery...

And I recently received a bunch of copies of my three books for Starfall, which should all be available soon and on Amazon in around 6 months or so!

New Book Project

I'm going to be working on a brand new children's book! Can't wait to get started...Iris and I went to Longwood Gardens again last week (getting as much out of the yearly pass as we possibly can), and I took some inspiration/reference photos-- the book has a tropical forest setting :)

Love's Labor's Lost

Wonderland

A few months ago, I was at my parents' house, snapping away. It was early in the morning, one of the first frosts, and serene. Beside the fact that I was 30 weeks pregnant and huffing and puffing up and down the hills into the forests, I felt pretty content.

I love the intricacy of the ice crystals that accumulate on all the flora. I remember always feeling both very sad and very calm--tranquil--when fall came. The smell of burning leaves and loamy gardens, the brown dead stalks of vegetables just tilled into the soil, seemed all extremely fatalistic; but at the same time, I took a kind of satisfaction in those hot chocolates and cozying up to the stove, watching the big clumps of snow slowly bury our little house in the hill. I think this is what melancholy means.

A Visit to the Conservatory

I visited Longwood Gardens back at the beginning of November and forgot my camera, but my mom let me borrow hers. She sent me a cd of the pics I took; here are a few I think I'm going to use as inspiration for my next painting.

The Journey

Finally finished the painting for my little girl. Having a newborn definitely prolongs the painting process :)

New Works in Progress

Well, my baby finally decided to come on New Year's Day (!!!!), so we've been a bit preoccupied as of late, hence my silence on the blog.

I'm working on the watercolor for baby Iris...it's about half-done I'd say, and the top ink is a potential note card that will probably be colored in Photoshop.

Ornamental Owls

Had to keep tweaking this one quite a bit...the composition just didn't flow the way I wanted it to, but I think it'll make a pretty decent note card. I like the color scheme...so I guess that's something positive.

A new note card design. I just printed a couple on the lovely linen paper I have, and they look awesome!

Been working on a few things here and there, but not a lot of posting because I've been getting ready for the big day...baby will be here anytime now, but the official due date is December 28. So exciting.
