Daruma

Made myself a daruma doll. Usually the eyes are blank. When the lucky person receives the special gift of a daruma doll, he/she fills in one eye upon setting a goal for themselves and then fills in the other upon completing that goal...so it serves as kind of a reminder to keep working toward accomplishing something!

The doll is modeled on Bodhidharma, the founder of Zen.

"Seven times down, eight times up" refers to the dolls' ability to always right itself when tipped over; triumph over adversity!!

And yay: Seahorse Love got accepted in the juried show at the Chester County Arts Association, along with my best friend Beck's collage piece as well. Party tomorrow night :)

Done for a juried show by the Chester County Arts Association. The theme is water, and I hope mine gets chosen!

Major Ursa #8: Explorer

A "capable" trailblazer. I've been browsing my Piranesi etchings book and decided to do something inspired by his romantic ruins :)

WIPs

My personal works in progress, "Our House in the Woods," for my mom and dad, and a seahorse-Valentine's-Day-love-themed one:

And I sold two pieces at the art show- my "Discomedusae" and a print of "The Way of Zen"...yay!

Terrarium

Pen and ink, colored in Photoshop. I don't really like it that much, mainly because I didn't spend a lot of time on the glass shape and choosing the plants...I'll probably redo it sometime. I got-to thinking about days of old when my mom would take my sister and I in the woods to gather mosses, lichens, and such for these cool little bio-domes...and now, they're pretty faddish.

I've been doing a lot of drawing, just haven't had time to post all yet! More to follow!
